Terry Pratchett

Terry Pratchett is one of the most popular authors writing today and is the acclaimed creator of the best selling Discworld series.  The first Discworld novel, The Colour of Magic, was published in 1983 and there are now 37 books in the series.  The first Discworld novel for children, The Amazing Maurice and his Educated Rodents, was published in 2001 and was awarded the 2001 Carnegie Medal.

Long regarded as a significant satirist, Pratchett has won numerous literary awards, was appointed OBE in 1998 and has received eight honorary doctorates.

In December 2007, Terry released a statement that he had been diagnosed with a rare form of early-onset Alzheimer’s disease. Since then, he has become Patron of The Alzheimer’s Research Trust and has done a great deal of work to raise the profile of the important fundraising required as well as making a sizeable donation himself.

Terry Pratchett

Small Gods.
Nation.

Terry Pratchett is my all time favourite literary genius. Below there are some of the many books that he has written. I will not be able to have pages for them all because he has written so many. If I were you, I would read ALL of the Discworld books, starting with The Colour of Magic. The thing about these books is that you know the characters, you have met them in your life. Some will remind you of friends or work colleagues. Others still, will remind you of your family members. The more you read, the more the Discworld comes alive. I wonder sometimes if this is a real place and Terry Pratchett visits from time to time, coming back with the amazing stories to tell the rest of the world. But do not just stop at the Discworld, oh no, read on. I recently read “Nation”, not a Discworld book. Once again Terry Pratchett has an insight that I find just amazing. Read one and then read them all.
