My view, my belief.

I have looked at a lot of religions over the years and found fault with all. I do not believe that if there is one true GOD, that he or she, would permit the amount of death and destruction that there is in the world around us. I can not understand that when everything goes wrong, he or she, is working in mysterious ways and would be beyond our understanding and ours is not to reason why. Moreover when things go right it is a miracle and we should praise him or her.

I am certainly not here for salvation and redemption. Like many, I may possibly be passed all hope. Am I looking for faith? No. This is just simply a culmination of things learned over the years and seem to me to be the most logical outcome.

THE BELIEF

Let us get something straight from the start. I am not and will never be some bible bashing nut.

I was, as a child, CoE (Church of England) but as I grew up a found faults with this belief. As it is with most children, you are encouraged to follow the beliefs of your parents. Not that my parents believed in anything much in the way of GOD. Like my father I go to religious building for 2 reasons. One being ceremonies such as weddings and funerals. The other being the building it self. Some of the most beautiful buildings and art in the world have been commissioned in the name of religion.

So why the change? Well like a lot of religious belief systems, they have been made up to suit the needs of the people controlling them. CoE with pieced together from the Roman Catholic church just so that King Henry VIII could get a devoice. So it is no real belief system at all. You do not worship GOD so much as the monarchy. It is all about power and control.

What about the Roman Catholic Church? Well it is no different from the CoE. It was also put together by a group of people that needed control over others. And boy did they succeed.

It really was an amazing peace of work. Taking elements from other belief systems, picking and choosing what they wanted, even down to images they wanted portrayed. The Devil himself had Pan’s legs and Neptune’s trident. The list is quite endless once you start to look.

So what is to be done? Do we follow the first religion that comes a knocking? No. And by the way, for all those religious nuts that do come a knocking, just don’t. If I want religion I will go find it. I really do not need you banging on my door asking me if I am happy with the world and the way it is. “Naff off” and go home and sing your silly songs to each other and leave me alone. Sorry, but I really needed to get that off my chest.

Is religion here to last?

Will there always be religion? Yes. In one for or another, as long as the human species survives, there we be people who want, or even need, to believe that there is something or someone out there. Something better to look forward to. Someone to forgive their sins. Let us call it Heaven.

What I can not abide is the killing in the name of religion, the so called Holy War. This is such a contradiction of terms. Once again this is people in power using religion to their own ends. Do not think for one minute that this is the Muslims against the Christians. Just looking back through English history you can see where religion has been used in the name of power. I am not just talking about the so called Crusades here, where thousands were killed. Even with Ireland to present date with have the Catholics against the Protestants. This has nothing to do with religion, it is all about land and who should own it. Just look at the Jews in Israel. And where do you start with Africa, it is not just tribal. Lets not forget The Spanish Inquisition, formally, the Tribunal of the Holy Office of the Inquisition, was a tribunal established in 1478 by Catholic Monarchs Ferdinand II of Aragon and Isabella I of Castile. It was intended to maintain Catholic orthodoxy in their kingdoms, and to replace the medieval inquisition which was under papal control. The Inquisition worked in large part to ensure the orthodoxy of recent converts, especially Jews, Muslims and others. Various motives have been proposed for the monarchs' decision to found the Inquisition, such as increasing political authority, weakening opposition, suppressing conversos, and profiting from confiscation of the property of convicted heretics. You see, power, money and control, that is what modern religion means to me and many others. So if you are going to war just know the true reasons.

Below I will try and explain what my conclusions are. What I now believe, not so much as a religion but a belief system. I will try to break it down to categories and sections for easier understanding. That is if I can get it all down the way it is in my head. Maybe with a little less confusion.

First, the big one: GOD: He,she or many?

Heaven and Hell: Or is this really all there is?

Angels, Guardians, Incarnation, Spirits,and more.

Prayers, Praise and Worship.

Jesus: Did he really exist or not?

Then there are the fundamentals. You know the bit that says “thou shalt not kill”. There are few more than than but you get the idea.

Is this the best Belief there is?

What about punishment for those that do wrong?

Is there a symbol or idol for THE BELIEF?

THE BELIEF (The short version)

GOD.
Heaven.
Angels.
Worship.
Jesus.
Rules.
Best.
Punishment.
Symbol.
